Health literacy is an absolutely essential skill to navigate the modern world, and yet our education systems are failing to ensure that students are aware of basic health information. Youth For Youth Health is an interactive and engaging application that empowers both schools and the students in them to take health literacy into their own hands. YFY Health provides its users with bite-sized lessons in different areas in the medical world, along with quizzes to ensure comprehension. Through positive feedback like streaks, badges, and progress milestones, students are given the motivation and tools to ensure they have the skills they need.
In addition to the interactive courses, the application functions as a health hub that students can look to for a diverse set of health needs. The resources section contains articles about important health topics, FAQs to help explain common questions, emergency resources to ensure that users can access that information when they need it most, and a health chatbot. The chatbot allows users to get personalized health advise and factual medical information through a conversational format. It also includes a map of local resources shows medical facilities in the area, as well as all important information about them.
