About SnapRx

SnapRx is an Android application used for identifying prescription medications based on physical descriptions, images, and simple text queries. SnapRx utilizes a computer vision classification model trained on 80,000+ pill images to classify users' uploaded pill images. The app searches a database of tens of thousands of prescription medications to provide our users quick access to prescription data, physical descriptions, manufacturing information, and pricing data when available. With SnapRx, you can quickly and accurately identify an unknown medication and gather relevant data on the corresponding prescription records.

Why SnapRx?

SnapRx is the only pill identification offering computer-vision aided search. The app provides detailed medication information on all 80,000+ medications in our database through a user-friendly interface. SnapRx is a valuable tool for anyone who wants to easily and confidently identify a prescription medication and gather pertinent medical details.


Getting started: How to use SnapRx

  1. Install and launch the app
    • Download and install the SnapRx app on your Android device from the Google Play Store. Launch the app.

  2. (Option 1) Classify medication by image
    • Use your device's camera app to capture an image of the prescription pill you want to identify. Make sure the pill is well-lit and in focus.
    • Navigate to the "Scan Med" page and follow the on-screen instructions to upload your image for classification.

  3. (Option 2) Classify medication by physical description
    • Navigate to the "Describe Med" page.
    • Enter the color(s), shape and imprints on the front and back of medication. Your query will be checked against our database of 80,000+ medications.

  4. (Option 3) Search medications by text query
    • Navigate to the "Search" page.
    • Enter any text query. Your query will be matched against our records.

  5. Review medication details
    • Once the pill is identified, the app will display details on the predicted medication.
    • Review the medication information, including prescription and manufacturing details, a physical description, and pricing data.

  6. Save and manage medications
    • You can save any medication to your profile for quick future reference or delete saved medications using the icons displayed on the medication details page.
