Have you ever misplaced a hammer in your home and take forever trying to find it?
How about forgetting you already have those light bulbs, and have to buy more because of that?
Perhaps you are a business owner that has a hard time keeping your inventory in line.
Then Here In My Garage is an application that can help you keep track of your posessions.
Video Demonstration:
-Keep track of the items in whatever room you choose, not just your garage.
-Take a picture of the item to remind you what you are looking for.
-Search your registered items by keyword
-Manage the items within the boxes, shelves, drawers, and other places you store items, in that room.
-Keep track of your items' expiration dates, should any have one.
-Update and delete your locations, containers, and items.
On Startup
Upon starting up the application for the first time, you will be prompted to either login to the application with your
account information, or to create a new account.
To create a new account, click the "sign up" link on the screen, you
then must input an email address and a password. After creating the account, you will then be prompted to login with the
information previously inputted, then clicking the "Login" button.
If you already have an account, but cannot remember the password, then click on "forgot passord?" and enter your email on the next screen,
then your password will be changed automatically and that generated password will be sent to you via email. Don't worry, you can update that
new password once you log in.
The Home Screen
After logging in to the app, you will be taken to the Home Screen, which gives you access to the different ways in which
you can edit your personal database. You can select from Managing Locations, Containers, Items, and Searching.
Each of these functions will be explained below.
You can also skip going to the view screens and start adding stuff
right away by tapping the three vertical dots at the top, this will dispay a drop-down box for you to select from. You can also logout
from your account by clicking "Logout" or access and update your account information by clicking the "Settings" option in that same drop-down box.
Home Screen Functions
Here we will explain the various ways that you will be able to add to, edit, and view your database.
Managing Locations
On the "Manage Locations" Screen, you can see the registered rooms and other locations that you are keeping track of your items in.
You need to start here in order to be able to start registering your containers and items.
Your list will be initially empty, but by tapping the "+" button at the bottom (or selecting "Add New Location" from drop-down box on the Home Screen), you can create one to keep track of. You'll be sent
to our "Add New Location" page where you can enter the name and take a picture to remind you of what room you are maintaining. Once
satisfied, you can create it by clicking the submit button, or cancel if you want to go back.
Once created, you can look inside of the location for any containers that you have associated with the room, update the name and image
of the location, or remove it by sliding the entry to the left and selecting what you want to do.
To head back to the Home Screen, press the button with the home shape on it while on the "Manage Locations" Screen.
Managing Containers
On the "Manage Containers" Screen, you can see the registered boxes, shelves, drawers and other containers that you are keeping track of.
Just like the "Manage Locations" Screen, you can add a new container to keep track of the items inside by hitting the "+" button(or selecting "Add New Container" from drop-down box on the Home Screen). You'll be sent
to our "Add New Conatainer" page where you can enter the name, location (making sure that the location is already registered), and take a picture to represent it. You can also scan its barcode,
should it have one, and fill in some of the fields for you. This can be done by tapping either the "scan" text field, or tapping the scan code button. Once satisfied, you can create it by clicking the submit button, or cancel if you want to go back.
Like before, you can slide each entry to the left to display the viewing and editing options for your container such as updating, viewing its contents, and deleting it.
To go back to the Home Screen, just hit the home button that's on the "Manage Containers" Screen.
Managing Items
On the "Manage Items" screen, you can see your registered items.
In a similar fashion to the above functions, you can add a new item to keep track of the items inside by hitting the "+" button(or selecting "Add New Item" from drop-down box on the Home screen). You'll be sent
to the "Add New Item" page where you can enter the name, container, location, shelf life, and take a picture to represent it. You can also scan the barcode just like before,
and fill in some of the fields. Once satisfied, you can create it by clicking the submit button, or cancel if you want to go back.
Like before, you can slide each entry to the left to display options, and since the item doesn't contain anything you can only update or delete it.
To go back to the Home Screen, just hit the home button that's on the "Manage Items" screen.
Searching For Items
Here you will be able to enter in a search query in the text field at the top. Press the "Search" button to update the results. This can help find an item much easier than looking through the items view
for it, especially if you have a lot of items that you have registered.
To go back to the Home Screen, press the home button.
Updating User Information
Selecting the "Settings" option on the Home Screen drop-down box will bring you here. This page allows you to change your email and password that is associated with your account. From here
you can also log out from your account by hitting the "Logout" button at the bottom, which will send you back to the Login Screen.
Updating the password requires the your current password, then entering the new password twice to make sure that you didn't make a mistake.
Updating your email is done by entering the new email in the field stated, as your current email will be filled out for you.
To get back to the Home Screen, either update your information or press the back button on your phone.
